Whispers
Whispers
A one-button puzzle platformer guided by echoes.
About the Game
Whispers is a one-button puzzle platformer where timing is crucial.
Each level provides a short sequence of commands taps, holds, and double taps shown briefly at the start.
Once the player acts, the instructions fade, and only the world remains.
There are no alternative inputs.
There is no improvisation.
Only rhythm, patience, and listening.
How It Works (Important)
-
Single button input
-
Tap → move right
-
Double tap → move left
-
Hold & release → jump
Each level accepts only one valid command sequence.
Pressing the correct inputs at the right time allows the traveler to move safely through the world.
Wrong timing and stoping leads to failure.
This is intentional.
Echo System
Commands are represented as visual echoes . floating words and whispers that drift through the space.
They are memory.
Once the first input is pressed, the echoes disappear, leaving the player to act on what they remember.
Gameplay
-
One-button control scheme
-
Timing-based puzzle platforming
-
Fixed input sequences per level
-
No free movement
-
No checkpoints, apart from the last level which resets when you die
-
Lives system enforces precision
Average playtime: 5 minutes
Narrative
Fully voiced narration with the help of ElevenLabs for the voice over!
Controls (One Button)
Keyboard :
-
Tap
-
Double tap
-
Hold
That’s it.
One Button Jam Entry
This game was created for the 1-Button Jam 2025 #1buttonjam . The entire experience is designed around a single input.
Notes for Players
This is a short, focused experience.
If the controls feel “restricted,” that is by design.
The challenge is not execution it is timing.
Hope you enjoy it!

It's fun but hard! I wished we could retry the same level indefinitely so I can learn it. It's really cool to have a narrator :o
thank you for playing, yes there is a learing curve indeed. i could make a how to level that you keep playing till you get it nice idea!
I wasn't able to beat the game, but i enjoyed the part of it that i could clear. Very interesting and creative take on "Echo". Good job!
I also found a little bug where the player can respawn at the wrong position sometimes. You can reproduce the bug by spam clicking the button endlessly in Level 3.
aa thank you very much for playing and for the bug hunting!
Nicely made. The tap hold hold level is as far as I managed, though. Having to redo the first levels became a bit much after a few tries.
Thanks for trying, yet the checkpoint happens later! i hoped the intiial levels would be a good point to get comfy with the controls so the death and reset served this purpose!
I found it really hard, although pretty fun. A very cool concept although I think the jump should be refined a bit, like I was jumping into the wall and what not. Really, really polished with the visuals :)
thanks for playing. i can see it being too hard, personaly and because i made it i find it challenging enough but not too hard and yes time was tight on my end even though i made it relatively quickly so i did not have much time to really go and smooth things out!
This has probably the best production values out there. Really smooth and elegant visuals and gameplay.
Thank you for the feedback. i was unsure of the controls but hopefully people will understand it after a couple of loses!
This one actually awsome. I like the narrator voice and the little story. The "tap hold hold" level felt like a bit of gambling. That one is realy need perfect timing, but the rest of the game is felt right. Also thanks for the last map checkpoint. Good job. :)
Thanks for playing! ye its a short game so teh pacing was an issue, maybe it might turn into a full game someday, with more narration/boss fights and more content!
